Context
ISSPAM aims to synergize and leverage existing public health strengths on the Aix-Marseille site. Its Research and Training missions are marked by a commitment to two main themes: social and territorial inequalities in health, and methods in public health sciences. ISSPAM's three priority areas of activity are: (i) characterization of population health and sources of vulnerability, (ii) interactions between the healthcare system and populations, and (iii) health mediation actions and practices.
Through its two themes and three priority areas, ISSPAM aims to (i) develop structuring projects acting as project incubators, (ii) disseminate knowledge with spin-offs for decision-making in public health, (iii) federate MSEC players in public health at regional and national level in a research-action/training dynamic, and (iv) assert its thematic specificities at national and international level.
AAP incoming mobility
This mobility grant is designed to support PhD students whose thesis (co)supervisor is a member of ISSPAM, to take part in a thematic school or give an oral presentation at a scientific conference in France or abroad.
The aim of this call for projects is to enable PhD students to benefit from additional training, as well as from an opening-up experience.
Two sessions are organized during the year. For information, the maximum amount allocated by ISSPAM is €1,000, mainly to cover registration, travel and accommodation costs.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, the start of the mobility program must fall within the appropriate period (see Calendar).
Candidate
PhD students whose supervisor or co-supervisor is affiliated with an ISSPAM team.
Insofar as scientific valorization in the form of face-to-face oral communication plays an active part in the training of younger PhD students, participation in a national or international scientific congress is eligible under this call for projects, subject to the following two conditions: (i) acceptance of an oral communication presented by the PhD student at a congress with a scientific committee; (ii) the congress must take place during the first year of the thesis (between registration in the first year and December of year n+1).
Nature of project
The thematic school in which the PhD student wishes to participate must be in line with his/her thesis project, and provide knowledge or skills in line with ISSPAM's themes and priorities. The thematic school or scientific conference can be offered by a French or foreign organization, and can take place either face-to-face or online.
Evaluation criteria
Evaluation criteria will focus on
- Link with ISSPAM themes and priorities
- Motivation of PhD students
- Argument concerning the contribution of this thematic school / oral scientific communication to the PhD students' training and thesis project.
Applicants must provide evidence of their ability to understand and communicate at the thematic school or scientific conference, if held in a foreign language.
Particular attention will be paid to applications presenting a project for participation in a thematic school or scientific congress at an AMU partner university within the framework of CIVIS, but the call for projects is open to applications from other structures, in particular ISSPAM partner structures.
A scientific committee made up of members of the ISSPAM Board will evaluate and select the projects. Evaluations will be sent to applicants by e-mail.
Cumulation of grants
PhD students who are awarded this scholarship for participation in a thematic school may not combine it with another scholarship for the training course applied for. Application for this A*MIDEX scholarship does not preclude application for another scholarship program; however, in the event of obtaining another scholarship of a higher total amount, the applicant must renounce the latter and inform the University of Aix-Marseille of his/her withdrawal as soon as possible.
Calendar
This call for applications comprises two sessions:
- Session 1: The deadline for applications is 16/03/2025 for mobility planned between 01/06/2025 and 31/01/2026.
