Aix-Marseille Université and three of its institutes (ITEM, ISSPAM, IPCV), the IHU Méditerranée Infection, IUCN and Plastic Odysssey are organizing, with the city of Marseille, the UNE SEULE SANTE day as part of the One Health Festival associated with the One Health 2026 Summit.

The aim of this event is to make the One Health approach accessible and concrete to a wide audience, while highlighting actions already underway in the region that illustrate the interdependence between human health, animal health and ecosystem health. Marseille, a Mediterranean port city and an open-air laboratory for contemporary environmental, health and social issues, is a particularly appropriate setting for this integrated approach.

The event aims to :

  • Explain what One Health is, and the concrete actions taken in the region
  • Promote the region's scientific excellence and partnerships, at the interface between research, innovation, public action and civic engagement;
  • Create a forum for dialogue between researchers, decision-makers, professionals, associations and the general public, in keeping with the spirit of the One Health Summit.

Program

Photographic exhibition - A look at the IHU Méditerranée Infection: at the heart of One Health

Photographic exhibition by artist Anne-Sophie Nival. Through her lens, she honors the women and men of the IHU Méditerranée Infection who innovate on a daily basis to build coordinated, sustainable actions in favor of a unique health within an international community focused on the South.

This exhibition is supported by AIA Life Designers, architects of the IHU building, committed to architecture that takes care of living beings and the Earth.

One Health Conference - Ecosystem health, population health: understanding and acting on a regional scale

This conference brings together environmental sciences, public health and biomedical research to better understand the complex interactions between natural resources, environmental pressures and human health.
It brings together speakers from the academic, institutional and operational worlds to address, through structuring projects and feedback, major contemporary issues such as antimicrobial resistance, sustainable water management, pollution, climate change, urban planning and chronic disease prevention, with a strong focus on Mediterranean territories.
This segment consists of a keynote and a round-table discussion.

Keynote - Embodying the One Health approach in the Mediterranean

This keynote will introduce MediCA²C, an international network of experts from Euro-Mediterranean universities and hospitals, dedicated to One Health research, training and care.

Speakers will demonstrate how MediCA²C takes concrete action to :

  • strengthen research and care infrastructures,
  • develop university training and skills transfer programs,
  • respond to the intersecting challenges of antimicrobial resistance and the impact of pollutants on ecosystems.

This talk will set the strategic framework for the conference, illustrating the need for international and cross-sectoral cooperation to respond to systemic health risks, which are particularly acute in the Mediterranean basin.

Speakers:

  • Pr Jean-Marc Rolain - Professor of Clinical Microbiology, Scientific Director of the IHU Méditerranée Infection, co-founder of the Mediterranean Center of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (MediCA²C)
  • Dr Sophie Baron - Co-founder of MediCA²C

Round Table - Mediterranean territories in transition: water, environment and population health

This round table proposes a territorial and operational interpretation of the One Health approach. It explores how natural resources, environmental dynamics and planning choices directly influence the health of populations, and how research and public action can strengthen the resilience of territories.
