Boost'ISSPAM

Context

ISSPAM aims to synergize and leverage existing strengths in public health on the Aix-Marseille site. Its Research and Training missions are marked by a commitment to two main themes: social and territorial inequalities in health, and methods in public health sciences. ISSPAM's three priority areas of activity are: (i) characterization of population health and sources of vulnerability, (ii) interactions between the healthcare system and populations, and (iii) health mediation actions and practices.

Through its two themes and three priority areas, ISSPAM aims to (i) develop structuring projects acting as project incubators, (ii) disseminate knowledge with spin-offs for decision-making in public health, (iii) federate MSEC players in public health at regional and national level in a research-action/training dynamic, and (iv) assert its thematic specificities at national and international level.

The Boost'ISSPAM AAP

ISSPAM aims to promote scientific exchanges and encourage the emergence of new collaborative projects. More specifically, it aims to develop structuring programs that act as incubators for ambitious projects. The "Boost'ISSPAM" call for projects is part of this specific objective. Its purpose is to enable the implementation of innovative, structuring and collaborative research or training projects within the institute, with strong potential for incubating new projects.

By way of indication, the amount allocated by ISSPAM is a maximum of €80,000 over a maximum period of 24 months.

Eligibility criteria

Applicant

Researcher, teacher-researcher, engineer or post-doctoral fellow affiliated to an ISSPAM team.
Proposed projects must involve at least two ISSPAM partners who do not belong to the same Research unit. Collaborations involving other ISSPAM or non-ISSPAM partners are possible and would be a plus.

Nature of the project

The research or training program must be innovative and part of an interdisciplinary cooperation. Priority will be given to structuring potential and the possibility of deployment as responses to external calls for proposals, targeting national and Internationally partners within the ISSPAM perimeter (i.e., promoting the incubation of new projects).

Eligible expenses

A detailed budget must be attached to the project proposal. Eligible expenses include staff, equipment and operating costs. You will find all eligible expenses here.

Co-financing

Co-financing is possible. Other funding sources must be indicated, with details of income received and income requested.

Evaluation criteria

Evaluation criteria will cover :

  • Link with ISSPAM themes and priorities
  • Scientific/pedagogical quality of the project
  • Complementarity of the participating teams
  • Compliance with the AAP framework (innovation, interdisciplinary collaborations, structuring potential, potential for incubating new projects)
  • Feasibility of the program (equipment, collaborations, staff involved, etc.)
  • Appropriateness of budget to demand
  • Leverage for submission to a national and/or Internationally competitive call for projects
  • Project development plan (next steps, training development, collaboration strategy, etc.)

A scientific committee, made up of members of the Board and the Training and Research Steering Committee, with the possible support of external experts, will evaluate and select the projects.

Timetable

The deadline for applications is May 11, 2025.

The application form for this call for projects can be downloaded from the website(https://institut-isspam.univ-amu.fr/fr/appels-a-projet-offres/nos-opportunites) and must be completed and sent electronically to isspam-contact@univ-amu.fr with the subject line [ISSPAM-candidature AAP2025-Boost'ISSPAM-ACRONYME] where ACRONYME should be replaced by the acronym of your project.

Summary and reports

The recipient of this funding undertakes to submit to ISSPAM, no later than three months after the end of the project :

  • A summary for the general public (one page maximum)
  • A detailed activity report
  • A detailed financial report

In addition, the beneficiary may be invited to present its work at events organized by ISSPAM.

Data management plan (DMP)

As part of the Aix-Marseille site's Open Science strategy, the institutes are committed to structuring and opening up research data. As part of this commitment, the awardee must submit a Data Management Plan (DMP) to the institute within 6 months of starting the project.

The ANR defines a DMP as " a description of the way in which data is produced, documented, (re)used, managed and shared during and after the project. It is a tool to help set up a reflection process around Research data in order to make them FAIR (Easy to Find, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) ".

More information on the PGD can be found at https://bu.univamu.libguides.com/donneesrecherche/PGD-DMP.
