Methods and Challenges in Public Health Sciences
The International Summer school on Methods and Challenges in Public Health Sciences is organized by ISSPAM and members of its research units from June 10 to 20, 2025.
Favoring an interdisciplinary approach, its aim is to provide training in the understanding, analysis and interpretation of public health issues in the North and South. It includes theoretical, practical and participatory teaching in various fields, using quantitative and qualitative methods in public health sciences.
The modules and the symposium are in hybrid format, i.e. face-to-face in Marseille and live online.
Program
The ISSPAM Summer school offers an à la carte program, a symposium with internationally renowned speakers, 13 modules and a joint webinar.
1. Symposium
Registration for the symposium "Quelles intelligences pour la santé publique?" with internationally renowned speakers is open to all. Participation in a module entitles you to free registration for the symposium.
The symposium is in French, with a live English translation for international exposure.

2. Modules

Modules are organized in different formats:
- Face-to-face only: Medical and Paramedical Sciences faculty site at La Timone in Marseille;
- Live online only;
- Hybrid (face-to-face and live online);
Notes :
- Please check the language of the module;
- The face-to-face RUSÉ module takes place on the ISPED site in Bordeaux (registration via the ISPED site);
- Registration for the joint webinar is via the ISPED website.
3. Joint ISSPAM / ISPED webinar: Perspectives offered by the reuse of healthcare data
As part of their respective international summer schools, ISSPAM - Institut des Sciences de la Santé Publique d'Aix-Marseille Université and ISPED - Institut de Santé Publique, d'Epidémiologie et de Développement de l'Université de Bordeaux, are organizing a joint webinar.
Through the presentation of research results or work in progress, the aim is to raise participants' awareness of the prospects offered by the reuse of health data, from health data warehouses or medico-administrative databases, for public health and health research.
The joint webinar will take place on June 11, 2025 from 05:30 to 07:00 pm live online.
Program:
- "Presentations of health data in France" by Julien Bezin (BPH/ U1219, ISPED);
- "PharmIAge: reuse of hospital data to support pharmaceutical validation through advanced detection of prescription errors in the elderly" by Jean-Charles Dufour (SESSTIM, ISSPAM);
- "Using transformers in the SNDS: a use case from the European Health Data Space pilot project" by Gayo Diallo (BPH / U1219, ISPED).

Who can participate
The Summer school is open to students (Master and PhD), post-doctoral fellows, academics, healthcare professionals, patients, civil society and citizens wishing to acquire a grounding or improve their skills in the field of public health sciences.

Registration closes: April 20, 2025 without extension

Registration is only effective once these 2 steps have been completed (registration form sent + payment made). A final confirmation will be sent to you by the Project manager.
The opening of a module depends on the number of registrations. In the event of cancellation of a module, participants will be reimbursed. No other refunds will be considered.

Scholarships
In order to ensure equal opportunities, several scholarships will be awarded to students from countries with limited Resources who wish to attend our Summer school and do not benefit from any financial aid.
Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed for part of their registration fees.
You can apply for a scholarship using the registration form. To apply for one of the scholarships, you must be registered for the Summer school: form completed and payment made. No application for a scholarship will be considered if the applicant has not completed and paid the registration fee.
